David Hart Smith def. Matt Hardy; The Great Khali cleared the ring of competitors
On the previous episode of SmackDown, Matt Hardy teamed with The Great Khali to take on The Hart Dynasty and scored a win after pinning the powerhouse Superstar David Hart Smith. On “WWE Superstars” the second-generation competitor seized his chance at retribution by defeating Hardy one-on-one as The Great Khali, Tyson Kidd and Natalya all looked on from ringside. Following the match, The Punjabi Playboy entered the ring and proceeded to clear it of all competitors, including his associate Matt Hardy, proving that in the Royal Rumble Match it truly is every Superstar for himself.

Despite the sexy, smart and powerful Natalya’s attempt at distracting The Great Khali outside of the ring, his partner, Matt Hardy, took care of business by wrapping up David Hart Smith in an inside cradle to get the win.

John Morrison, R-Truth, Matt Hardy & Finlay def. CM Punk, Luke Gallows, Drew McIntyre & Dolph Ziggler
With a host of rivalries intertwined in one match, the WWE Universe was treated to an action-packed eight-man tag match to kick off the night. After a competitive battle from both sides, it was John Morrison who picked up the win for his team by hitting Starship Pain on Dolph Ziggler. As the No. 1 Contender, John Morrison will take on Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre in a title match next week on SmackDown.

Matt Hardy def. Finlay (ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match)
Former ECW Champion Matt Hardy returned to the Land of the Extreme Tuesday night to take on fellow SmackDown Superstar, Finlay, in the first of two ECW Homecoming Qualifying Matches. As ECW Champion Christian joined the announce team to size up his possible Royal Rumble competition, Hardy made his ECW homecoming a memorable one. Despite tweaking his knee during the match, high risk-taking Hardy recovered for long enough to hit a Twist of Fate on The Fighting Irishman for the victory.

Matthew "Matt" Moore Hardy (born September 23, 1974) is an American professional wrestler. He is currently working for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on their SmackDown brand. Before signing with WWE, Hardy, with his brother Jeff, founded a wrestling organization called Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts (OMEGA). While there, Hardy held many championships including the Heavyweight and Tag Team Championship, which he held with Jeff. The promotion folded in October 1999 when they signed contracts with WWE.
